I recently bought this to have more of a peace of mind for when my husband is on shift. We also enjoy traveling and we stay at both hotels and VRBO’s. This is a great addition to add to your suitcase. Its small and not heavy.I used it on both my front door and garage door. Its very easy to install as well as take off. I do feel like this would add a good amount of extra protection to keep anyone from coming through a door. Definitley gave me the extra peace of mind when I used it.

Excellent product!
Love this extra bit of security gadget from Trustella. This works quite well, it is a definite requirement if you travel a lot, whether itâs Air Bnb or a hotel room – with all the locks being magnetic or digital and no physical locks – itâs really hard to be safe. This really solves that problem. It is definitely a two handed operation as you can see from the video. The marks on my door were from a previous version I had without the silicone edges that Trustella provides on their product. Really happy with the product and the durability is really good as itâs a single piece and not welded on. It comes with a small velvet bag for travel. It fits all the doors that open inwards with a lock hole wider than 1/2 inch. Very good value for money and very easy to use as well.

Beware you may get locked in if not used properly!
The door lock is amazing and worked very well at home. But when we stayed at a hotel recently I did not realize the door did not have the minimum gap between the door and frame (honestly it completely slipped my mind) and the hotel door had a black edge tape which looked like a space in low light. I installed the lock at night with a little push. In the morning when i tried to open the door I realized I had been locked in, the lock got jammed and I was not able to open the door. Luckily we were three of us in the room so as I nudged the lock my husband pulled the door. After 45 mins we were able to open the door. It was a nightmare!! While the lock is great but please beware it is not suitable for all doors. Hope this helps!

Update — Just bought 2 more and these ones do have the silicone caps. Really terrific. IN additoin to travel I also use at home even though I have security and alarms. I do want the silicone caps fo rthe previous ones I purchased.Update 2024- Amazing tool. Was in a hotel where the bar did not work because of the flooring and this one worked perfectly. No one can enter even if the deadbolt is disengaged without breaking the door down.Easy to use — great for hotels along with other security measures. Will prevent entry from thieves using a wire under the door because even if they manage to get the handle up they will not be able to enter. Use in conjunction with a pole under the door, a doorstop alarm, and a camera and you can live your life on the road.

Stuck inside the room/Safety Concern
I used this portable lock at multiple hotels (major US hotel chains). It would not fit in at least one of the hotels.For the hotel doors that worked with this lock, I am not sure if itâs any better than the built in stopper.Worst of all, it got stuck in one of the hotels doors (standard type). I was trapped in the room, the hotel security and maintenance had to come save me. (I mean if two guys can get it unstuck from the outside, how well does this prevent bad guys from doing the same?)Itâs a safety concern because if it gets stuck and the room is on fire, you are in trouble.

I recently purchased this portable door lock and I am extremely impressed. It is lightweight, small, and very easy to pack, making it perfect for travel or for added security in any location. This would be great for hotel rooms and when renting a vacation home.Installing the lock was a breeze, simply sliding it into place on the door where there is a gap between the locking latch and door. The lock securely holds the door closed, providing peace of mind and added security.I love how compact and easy to use this lock is, and I feel much safer knowing I can easily secure any inward-swinging door with it. It does not work with outward-swinging doors. It is also important to note that this lock will only work on doors with gaps between the locking latch and door. If you have a tight fitting door with no gaps, this lock may not be suitable for your needs.Overall, I highly recommend this portable door lock for anyone looking for added security on the go or at home. It is a great investment for peace of mind and easy to use in any situation.

Due to how solid the unit is, the device actually stops my house door from closing as the gap isnât large enough, and the first hotel I have tried to use it in the door cannot snib as the device is holding the door mechanism from going into the wall plate. The adjustment and rubber feet make me feel like when the door Iâm using fits this device it will do a good job, but until then Iâm left with something that keeps getting me additional screening at the airport.
