[Native Matter Support over Thread] The Aqara Motion and Light Sensor P2 seamlessly integrates with the robust Matter platform and is compatible with Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung. (*NOTE: To add P2, please refer to the A+ content for supported 2-in-1 Matter Controller & Thread Border Router).Based on the Thread protocol, Sensor P2 provides enhanced connectivity, low-power consumption, high reliability and Low latency. Meanwhile, with the FFS feature, the P2 will allow for seamless connection with your home network through Amazon Echo devices.
[2-in-1 Sensor] The Aqara Motion and Light Sensor P2’s built-in infrared and light sensor monitors the presence of people in an area, and monitors the lighting values, allowing you to easily achieve automation for various tasks in your home, such as flexible automations for curtains and lighting. Compared to the Aqara motion sensor P1, the Motion and Light P2 includes a separate light sensor that can be used independently for automations, apart from motion detection, and is compatible with Matter. (*NOTE: Alexa DOESN’T SUPPORT light sensor functionality)
[Wide Viewing Angle & Detection Range] The P2 sensor can detect movement across a wider area range of up to 7 meters/23 feet, at an angle of up to 170° horizontally, and 45° vertically. The data is from laboratory testing, conducted in a 25 °C / 77 °F environment. It also comes with a versatile 360° stand, that allows you to easily adjust the viewing angle, and it can only trigger the sensor when it’s needed. The detection angle and the sensitivity may vary depending on the ambient temperature and the distance. The device comes with medium sensitivity by default, but you can set the various sensitivity levels on the Aqara Home APP later according to seasonal changes or needs.
[Energy Saving & Alert System] You can integrate the Motion and Light Sensor P2 with your smart home ecosystem to enable advanced automations and energy efficiency. Imagine how fun it can be! You’ll be able to schedule different automations based on the brightness in the room to achieve circadian lighting and ambient control. Moreover, the automations are executed without the cloud, which can protect the user’s privacy and will keep working even if there is no internet connection.
[Easy to Install & Long Battery Life] Thanks to its compact wireless design and adjustable stand, the Sensor P2 can easily be installed on a wall, ceiling or a particular zone, and set up with ease. The Motion Detector and Light Sensor P2 has a powerful 2*CR2450 Lithium battery and provides up to 2 years of power for round-the-clock security, one of the longest battery life among Matter over Thread sensors. (NOTE:The battery life depends on the particular Matter ecosystem and the number of Matter ecosystems the device is connected to. And please pull the battery tab out before using.)

Great product! Will be purchasing more
This has been a great and easy to use product. I purchased it for motion activation with my smart lights but quickly learned it is capable of so much more. It has an ambient light sensor which is great for triggering lights to turn on if it’s a gloomy day or keep them off if it’s still bright. It also has been able to work with my smart blinds if the sun is beaming in it can trigger them to close. Best part is the product is small, well made and wireless so it can be placed anywhere. Great job Aqara!

Functional until it wasnât
At first it was functional as expected. Then it ceased working showing as unresponsive for HomeKit. Removed and reset after which nothing but failure to connect. Manufactureâs app wouldnât allow setup claiming a matter hub required which isnât what documentation indicates. Clearly a poorly designed device that is not able to perform as expected.

Aqara Motion and Light Sensor P2 Review
The Motion Sensor is a compact powerhouse that excels in speed and simplicity. Its sleek design and quick setup make it a breeze to integrate into any smart home. Iâve mounted mine in a ceiling corner of the laundry room and paired it with HomeKit via Thread. The results are astonishing: the lights turn on in less than half a second after entering the room, thanks to a simple HomeKit automation. This level of responsiveness is truly impressive. The sensor accurately detects motion without being triggered by my pets, and the ability to remove unnecessary labels adds a clean, modern touch. While I appreciate the sensorâs current sensitivity, the lack of adjustable options within Apple HomeKit is a minor disappointment. Additionally, the absence of USB-C charging feels like a missed opportunity.Despite these small drawbacks, the Motion Sensor is an excellent choice for anyone seeking reliable and fast motion detection. Its performance in my laundry room has significantly improved convenience and energy efficiency. The sensor uses an easily replaceable coin cell battery, and while I can’t speak to battery life yet, the overall value for the price is impressive.

HomeKit user review
I currently have most of my house setup on HomeKit. I have 4 other sensors I use to keep the lights turned off when no one is in the specific room, but they are a mixture of the Eve and Onvis sensors. This Aqara sensor wins as far as size and versatility. However, the issue I have, and why I am returning it, is that in order to change the duration in which the sensor checks for motion/occupancy, you have to add it to the Aqara app. Its default duration is 1 minute. Unfortunately you cannot add it to the Aqara app without an Aqara hub. Adding directly to HomeKit works great so I donât need an Aqara hub but 1 minute duration is not long enough ( I typically set to 10 minutes), so the lights are constantly turning off when they shouldnât be.I have only used this for 1 week, but another thing I have noticed 2 or 3 times is the dreaded âdevice unreachableâ notification in HomeKit. Fortunately it has self healed each time, but my other 4 sensors have been in place for at least a year and I canât think of a single time they have become unreachable.Side note for that – if you are having issues with your HomeKit devices becoming unreachable I would recommend upgrading yours router.I had a really nice nighthawk router, but had multiple devices going unreachable and needing reset multiple times a week which was very frustrating. A few months ago I upgraded to the Eero 6+ mesh routers (2 pack – 1 upstairs and – downstairs in opposite ends of the house) as they advertise being built for smart homes, and I havenât had a single âdevice unreachableâ error since.

Works with SmartThings v3 hub but documentation is terrible
Update: Prior to posting this review, I messaged Aqara directly regarding the difficulty I was having. Although I had found the solution (below) before hearing back from them, I had discovered that the battery level on the Aqara device was reporting only 50% battery remaining. Aqara made a reasonable effort to help me and offered me some compensation for my troubles, so I have been impressed with their response. Therefore, I will be purchasing another device from them in the not-too-distant future and hope to have a better setup experience. I am also going to raise my rating from 3 to 4 stars.Setting up the Aqara Motion and Light Sensor P2 was a major pain until I figured out how to get it to successfully complete the initial setup process. This was my first Matter-over-Thread device, so some of the confusion was due to my learning curve, but there are a couple points that are worth noting. In my case, I wanted to connect the P2 device via my SmartThings v3 hub, which is both a Matter Controller and a Thread Border Router. As soon as you put the P2 device into Pairing mode and open the SmartThings app (I’m using iOS), the app prompts you to add the device. in my case, this NEVER worked. Do this instead:When prompted to add the device, cancel that setup wizard. While still in the SmartThings app, tap the + button and choose “Add device”.Next to “Partner devices,” tap Add.Find and tap Aqara.Tap “Motion sensor”Tap “Aqara Motion and Light Sensor P2”.At this point, the SmartThings app may download some additional software, which I suspect is why the auto-setup wizard fails. When prompted, scan the P2’s QR code.Next, allow the app to add the device to iCloud.I have both Alexa and Home Assistant connected to SmartThings, so both of these systems found the Aqara P2 device and were functional, though it does appear that the Alexa app cannot interact with the light sensor. Only the motion sensor appears to work in Alexa. The SmartThings app and Home Assistant, however, sees both sensors just fine.

El sensor es más pequeño de lo que parece, detecta luz y movimiento y se puede integrar con HomeKit. Costó un poco que lo identificara pero al final lo conseguÃ. Buen precio durante Black Friday
