Surprisingly easy setup and good quality
I’ve played with various security cameras over the years. Most are clunky and awkward in one way or another. They are hard to set up. Or they use bad software or the solar panel barely keeps it running etc. This just works. Simple setup. Easy to mount. I mounted with full exposure to the sky but very little (if any) direct sunlight on the panel and it is always topped up. Picture quality is excellent. Software connects quickly and works well. Why only 4 stars?1) The WiFi configuration is flawed. It is character limited. I have a 27 character key which I’ve used for YEARS on many many devices without problems. But the configuration field will not accept a key that long. Fortunately, I have a guest WiFi setup with a shorter key and used that (better that way anyway) But this is a dumb mistake.2) Only phone software. There really should be a web access method or a computer version.

    Great camera!
Camera has an enough wide view of my property, and picture is pretty clear. The solar panel rotates automatically as advertised, always facing the direction of the sun during the day. The battery is always sufficient.Piece of mind

Product is good but wireless is not the way!
I tried this product, and it works without any issues. The solar aspect is heavily dependent on your area, so if you live in a place with not a lot of sun, this product is not for you. The camera was relatively easy to set up—pretty much plug and play. I have a solid WiFi system, so it was able to sync up without any issues. This is also dependent on your home situation. The camera footage was sharp, and the field of view was great for front porch testing. But to be quite frank, I would need to do more research if I were switching my whole security system over to Baseus. I much prefer to stick with a company that focuses solely on security rather than one that dabbles in a little bit of everything. Baseus’s security ecosystem just isn’t fully there. Wireless is also not a foolproof solution. Spend the time to get a fully wired system with an NVR. Future-proof your security.

Significant Upgrade Over My Zumimall Camera – 2 Month Review
I placed this camera at the top of the facade of my garage. I previously had a Zumimall wireless camera installed in the same location, which is another Amazon brand wireless camera. I’ve been using this camera for about 2 months at this point, and it’s definitely better than my Zumimall camera for a number reasons.Since my garage is detached and about ~30 yards away from my house, I have installed a wireless mesh router in the garage. The wifi signal is relayed to the router in the garage which then allows the camera to connect to the wifi. This is not a perfect solution because the garage is a metal box and that doesn’t bode well for wireless signals, but this unit does a good of staying connected a decent amount of the time. It’s able to effectively communicate when it has detected something most of the time, but often stalls out when buffering a video. I don’t really fault the camera here, but it is doing a MUCH better job allowing my to watch some of the videos and the overall quality of the video itself.I really like the auto tilting feature with the solar panel. You can enable the unit to pivot as the sun moves throughout the day, allowing camera to get the most juice it can. This reduces the time between charges. Right now I’m sitting at 40% and I haven’t charged the unit since I installed it 2 months ago.The motion detection software does a good job capturing video when something or someone enters the field of vision. I found myself frustrated with other cameras watching clips of the last 1/2 second of something running by. I believe this camera also has an adjustable sensitivity setting for this, but I haven’t had to play with that. So the default setting works for me.If you’re looking for a budget option that provides good value and it’s low maintenance, I would recommend this camera.

Works well if close to Wifi router, takes a second to start recording
This camera is solidly made and the hardware looks and feels nice. Picture quality is good, both in the daytime and at night. The manual says that it needs to be within 10m (30 feet) of your router. I’ve used it successfully about 45 feet away, but it certainly didn’t work on a pole in my yard 110 feet away. It also refused to connect to a wifi-repeater I have (several other devices work fine with the wifi repeater, including other cameras on the pole). I feel that it would benefit from an external antenna.I mounted it part way under a tree, and the solar panel is keeping it fully charged even though it doesn’t get more than 2 hours of sun a day. I’ve never seen the solar panel actually track the sun. It moves when you first turn the unit on to find the limits of motion, and you can manually position it with buttons in the app, but when I turn sun tracking on I have never seen it move. (and I’ve set up timelapse cameras to try and catch it moving…) So as far as I can see, there is no benefit from the “sun tracking” feature of the solar panel, but even without solar tracking it appears to be providing plenty of power for the small number of activations I have each day.My camera is facing the house, and only gets activated 3-10 times a day. I’ve never had it NOT activate when my doorbell camera detected motion, so it appears to detect people just fine. However, it sometimes stops recording before the “action” is over. [e.g. I’ve had videos of delivery drivers dropping off a package, but it turns off before capturing them walking back away from the door.] It also takes about 1 second to “start” recording, so for example you’ll get a video of somebody walking away from the door, but not of them opening and coming out of the door. The camera has 8GB of onboard recording, and it appears that your video is only stored on the camera. The phone app can download/view recorded videos, but only if the camera is online. If the camera is turned off (stolen?) or offline, the phone app can no longer download/view the recordings. [I believe they sell a home base station product for inside your home that can back up the videos.]The mounting bracket is easy to install, and if you tighten it down with channel locks will keep the camera in place. Because the camera mount point is on the very end, the entire weight of the camera is twisting down on the adjustment point on the mount, so you really need to tighten the ring down tight to keep the camera from dropping down.Because the phone app has to connect to the camera (instead of the cloud) for some activities, if the wifi connection to the camera isn’t perfect, you will sometimes get a spinning wait symbol while it is communicating with the camera, so the app feels slow.So it overall works, but did not connect to all of my wifi routers, and has limited wifi range. The app is very functional, but sometimes slow when waiting for the camera to respond over the network.
