Learn more about Dakota Alert

LONG RANGE COVERAGE: The 1-mile wireless range of this driveway alert system is much greater than other products, which means the radio signal is more likely to reach the receiver. This is especially useful for larger properties or for areas with obstructions that can interfere with signal transmission.
CUSTOMIZABLE SOUND LEVELS: Choose from four different volume levels to get the perfect sound level for your specific application. This allows you to set the alert to a volume that is appropriate for your location and needs, without being too loud or too quiet.
EASY INSTALLATION: The code-learning technology of this alert system makes it quick and easy to set up. You can have it up and running in just minutes, with no need for complicated wiring or installation procedures.
RELIABLE BATTERY OPERATION:The sensor operates on a single 9V battery, which can last for a year or more before needing to be replaced. This means you don’t have to worry about the sensor losing power or needing frequent battery changes, making it a reliable choice for long-term use.
MULTIPLE SENSORS AND RECEIVERS: You can pair up to 16 sensors with one receiver, or an unlimited number of receivers with one sensor. This allows you to customize the coverage of your alert system to meet your specific needs and requirements.

    Great set up!
This is my second receiver because I couldn’t hear the alarm outside on my porch. Easy to set up and works great! I have had it on for a couple of weeks and have not had a single false alarm or a miss. Great system!

    Great simple motion alarm!
We are using this Dakota driveway motion alarm to protect our storage shed which sits below our driveway and is out of sight from our house. I would estimate the shed is approximately 350 from our home with a garage, a small hill (comprised of granite) and deep woods blocking our line of sight to the shed. The Dakota alarm is mounted in the shed, so if the door is opened we are alerted. I am happy to report that the alarm works flawlessly, even in the conditions I described. I would highly recommend it. We live in the far north west where extreme cold is the norm in winter, so far the temperature has not effected the alarms performance.

    Sensor Replacements
My other Dakota Alert worked flawlessly with 4(max), 4 tones, transmitters. These new transmitters have 16 tones, and allow me to add up to that many sensors. These are just upgrades, and they too, are performing flawlessly. Batteries in original set are 3 years old and still working. Sensitivity can also be set, as well as refresh time, and 16 tones. The new set is not compatible with my older set, but that is no problem. Older set is up for the sale. I love this system. Not exactly plug and play, but not bad.

I have three on my acreage
Ll three work great and keeps me in tune with what and who is on the property. (including deer:-)

  5. Its All Good

Easy set up and cover a very long range
Extremely pleased, this replaced another brand. I selected tis as it also has dry contact options. The driveway alert has its own sound selections for notifications. With the dry contact I can add 3rd party notification. This is perfect, so far no false alerts!

Random and Unreliable – Not weatherproof
I purchased and installed this item and an additional sensor about a month ago. The attached picture shows that the unit is installed within 50′ of the receiver, which is located in a window with a clear line of sight to the unit at a slight angle to catch nearly any object height passing through. The sensitivity is set to ‘Medium’, and it is approximately 6′ from the driveway. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not pick up a vehicle. Some vehicles it will NEVER pick up. The second unit is located about 100 yards from the receiver, and performs slightly better, but exhibits the same random function. I have tried putting fresh batteries in the sensors, but same result. Kind of an expensive item from what I thought was a reputable Manuf. to function in this way. For this application, you do not need something that only functions properly some of the time. There is not much in the way of troubleshooting advice in the instructions, so maybe there is something I am missing, but I have installed motion sensors professionally for decades, so I am pretty sure I am good on the install.I was going to add an under the drive probe and remote, but doubt I will as that is too much coin to spend for a random result. I have had the hard-wired Cartell version of this in the past, but lightning always takes these out eventually if you run the shielded cable any distance. I was hoping this would solve that problem.Further update: Part of the problem here is that the units are NOT weatherproof as stated. One of mine began going off constantly a short while after I bumped up the sensitivity to ‘High’. Took it off the mount & noticed water droplets on it. When opened, it had a considerable amount of water inside. Mounted vertically on a tree trunk. See the 2nd Pic to ID the issue. While there is a gasket, the ridiculous screws that attach the 2 halves together do not seal the middle. You can see the gap with tightened screws in the photo. In addition, they are on the wrong side of the unit, so that every time you change the battery or make adjustments, the loose tiny screws fall out of the back of the case & have to be kept track of – outside in the leaves. Good luck not dropping at least one every time. This is all just dumb stuff that is usually attributable to cheap Chinese outsourcing. Inexcusable for something that is not a cheap alternative. Hard to believe that other users have not had these same issues.

    Good product
This is the second one we have owned from this company. First one lasted 13yrs. We have a 1/2 mile lane. It will read clear out to the other cross road. But… everything someone drove by the gravel dust would set it off. Just move it up our lane 200ft. And it works great. Highly recommend this driveway alarm

I brought this as an upgrade to the older 2500/3000 series’It comes with a USA 110v power supply so if using in the UK you will need to source a power supply.I was lucky because the old UK power supply I was using on the old system fitted. Is a good upgrade on the older system and is more reliable at detecting vehicles.

I had been using this to cover a gate for many years with the 2500 and 3000 series. The new 4000 series seems to work much better.People walking by will set off the alarm but I wanted it to detect vehicles waiting at the gate. With the old system it was a bit hit and miss but the newer system has not so far in 2 weeks failed to detect a vehicle waiting at the gate. One problem with this system is that it will work great with a car which is warm but often fails to pick up a car exiting which I put down to the car not warm.As is used to detect a vehicle arriving then the chances are it will not be a cold just started up vehicle this has worked OK for what I needed. If you would need it to be 100% on vehicle detection on warn or cold vehicles then it maybe better to go for the probe version or the rubber hose version.I could not use the probe as is too close to the road and next to a large metal gate.I did also buy the rubber hose version but have yet to try as this is so far doing the job and I still have not been able to straighten out the rubber hose which came coiled up.The new style pager receiver is almost twice the size of the old style but battery lasts much longer and is much more reliable receiving a signal.I have found it well worth the money and works much better than the older 2500/3000 series.

Installed the Dakota Alert 4000 Wireless Driveway Probe Alarm System July 2019 because we live on a 40 acre parcel with a long out of sight driveway entrance to front and backyard.Transmitter probe is set about 20′ up the driveway from the main road on one side at a depth of about 10″. Driveway is about 14′ wide. Now we get ample warning for house and backyard traffic.Placed a receiver outside at my tool shed under the eaves in the backyard (500’+ over hills, house and trees from transmitter) and one in the house. The tool shed receiver is still going strong but house one failed so ordered this as a replacement (Expensive but felt naked without it).Our transmitter is approximately 300′ from the house (over a hill, through trees and into house). Used a vehicle with an AC outlet to set up the new receiver. Works great if you have a person in the vehicle.Needing AC to set up the receiver is the only drawback of this system for us. First set up for house and tool shed was with my tractor and an inverter. We felt unsecure when the house receiver failed and surprised the house one (indoors) failed before the tool shed one did.The transmitter has replaceable batteries. It has seen -38C (-36.4F) temps since 2019 and still worked and have not needed to change the batteries, yet…knock on wood. There is a sensitivity setting on the transmitter. Lightning will set it off if set too high. It took a short time for me to get it tuned to our needs.Would I buy this system again or suggest to others?…Absolutely!
