Iâm waiting for the pests to show upâ¦and leave
This pest deterrent was very easy to assemble and seems reasonably well built; no gaps or spots for water to get into. The solar panel is smooth and fully a part of the product. There are 4 domed motion sensors around the deterrent with 2 red LED lights in each quadrant.Iâve used similar devices for other purposes so I have realistic expectations. The sounds/lights are an annoying distraction to animals and they leave. However, animals have a way of learning that the flashy/noisy thing didnât actually hurt them and start ignoring it. Even the deer that used to run away now ignore my frantically barking dog. But if I can get a few plants in the garden to grow and keep the squirrels off the deck and birdhouse itâs worth it. Iâll bring it in and out to keep them guessing.My observations:⢠Itâs very sensitive; only a slight motion and it goes off⢠The detection range was about 12 â 15 feet⢠The lights arenât that bright; they are just LEDs (with reflectors so they stand out but just arenât penetratingly bright. The dome that I thought would be a light is actually the motion sensor⢠The siren sound is quite loud; you hear it and wouldnât want to hang around it but it doesnât hurt your ears. I donât think I can use that though or the neighbors would consider me a pest⢠The device will charge itself with the sun, unless you have some cloudy days. It comes with a USB charging cable. I donât like that the one end is a barrel connector (the other is USB-A); why itâs not some common form of USB I have no idea. Now I have to keep up with the special charging cable⢠You can mount it on the included stake or attach to a wall/fencepost⢠I canât tell how well it works as a deterrent yet. If I donât see something, did it not come or did it run away? Iâll need to watch for a few weeks to see whether less of the plants/grass/yard get destroyed by the squirrels, deer, and elk.

Too early to tell
The sensor does a good job of detecting critters, but the ultrasonic alarm doesnât seem to bother the raccoons. They donât run away, they just walk right by it. I have seen the frequency of the raccoons showing up decline which I attribute to the alarm.

We had initial success with this device, as we noticed a decline in activity from the mole that had been causing issues in our yard. But over time we have become less confident in its overall effectiveness, especially when it comes to squirrels.Pros:⢠Motion detection: the motion detection is a solid feature, the device activates when animals or even people move nearby.⢠Light and sound modes: the four different modes, especially the loud ones, may initially be effective in scaring off animals, though they could be bothersome to humans or neighbors.⢠Versatility in mounting: the option to mount it on the ground, wall, or fence allows you to position it strategically for better coverage.⢠Solar power: the solar charging option eliminates the need for constant battery changes, which is a great convenience and environmentally friendly.Cons:⢠Diminishing effectiveness: over time, the deterrent effect might wear off. The animals could become habituated to the noise or light. ⢠Noise concerns: modes 3 and 4, while possibly effective, could be disruptive, especially to neighbors. This could make it less practical in residential areas.⢠Limited impact on gophers/moles: given that gophers and moles spend most of their time underground, they may not be as sensitive to the deviceâs sounds or lights as other animals.While it could still be useful for some surface-dwelling pests in the short term, it hasn’t proven to be a long-term solution for us, particularly for the squirrels that seem to just ignore it. For persistent pests, you may need to explore a combination of deterrents or consult a professional pest control service for a more targeted approach.

Good Alternative Mounting Means- It Works and Makes an Annoying Racket
The device was ordered to repel the uncontrolled invasion of shrub/plant eating deer in our suburban neighborhood. The device mostly works as represented and makes a racket when it is triggered by an animal or human moving within detection range, nearby. It does seem to repel deer.It has several good features that distinguish it from similar products. First, comes with a ball joint configured to be mountable either on a wall or fence, as well as a stake that can alternativelyg be used to support the device about 2 feet above ground. Second, it has multiple sensors and loudspeakers to provide 360 decgree coverage with minimal blind spots.It hasn’t been in place long enough at this time to assess long term durability/reliability.

360 Coverage for Relatively Small Area
This looks cool, but there are a couple of issues I noticed on this product. First, the speaker is inside the housing, and there are no openings or grills. So, it’s not directional, and it sounds a bit muffled. The next issue is the LED lights. They are just LEDs behind a frosted plastic window. They aren’t very bright, so I wonder how effective they will be.Other than that, this seems to work okay. The solar panel looks better than the cheap ones that come on the old designs. It also has 360 coverage, so you can place it near the center of your garden to discourage any animals from entering. That’s great if you have a fairly small area to protect. I need to protect my entire back yard, so I have several repellers around the perimeter. A wall mount is included, but I want to take advantage of the 360 coverage, so I’ll use the stake.
