“This grinder does not work!”
“This grinder does not work!” was what I said when I bought it. I did all the right things. I used small chunks of beef, the beef was very cold (nearly frozen), I worked a couple of small pieces at a time. The chunks of meat went into the grinder…and I never saw it again. The grinder chewed it up but never cut it into the bowl. It just kept getting backed up, so much so that I had to go to the nearby hardware store and by a oil cap remover to unscrew the grinder lid because of how severely it was stuck.I finally get the lid off and began unclogging the meat and cleaning the device. I had every intention to return the unit. But, something interesting happened while I was washing the grinder. I noticed that I had the fan blade turned backwards!USER. ERROR!!I kept the device clean and decided that I was going to try it one more time the next day. I just didn’t have the energy to try it again that night. The next day came. I looked at the unit and got to work, making sure that I slid the fan blade on properly and making sure that I placed the grate on properly. Then, I used cold meat and began dropping beef chunks into the grinder.SEAMLESS!This thing works so well on the Kitchenaid! It cuts the meat cleanly and spills it into your bowl very smoothly. I was so impressed. And when I tell you that I took that ground chuck roast and made homemade lasagna that night! Wow! So please, if you are even thinking that you MIGHT want a grinder: this is the one you need! I can’t wait until tomorrow to try out the sausage maker attachment that comes with it.Let me add the fact that it is SO easy to clean. The pieces come apart very easily, and it even comes with a tube brush to clean the valve. You can probably wash this in about 2-3 minutes by hand. This thing is going to make the best burgers and sausage and whatever else. Buy it, buy it, buy it!

Quick and Easy to use, Perfect for Hunters
We bought the KitchenAid KSMMGA Metal Food Grinder Attachment to process a deer into snack sticks as well as mix ground beef and venison meat together for ground venison. It worked great and saved us a lot of time compared to any other alternatives I know of. The material is like an ice cream scoop you would freeze, so that you can freeze it before use. This really helps to keep the meat cool and prevent the product from becoming too liquid or mushy. It made for very fast work and did not struggle with anything we put in it, even some of the leftover tendons or grisly stuff we ground up for the dog. We pretty much stuck to the largest size attachment for our ground venison, and it was the perfect size. We liked the bigger option, so the meat is not too small for recipes, but there are options for whatever your preference. It is easy to assemble and attach to your KitchenAid mixer. It came in a box easy to unpack and repack, as we just put it back in the box to store, with cushion and slots for each piece. There were clear instructions if needed as well.

Works well but there is a catch
Works well but is not dishwasher safe which tarnishes it black immediately. I am told that boiling the tarnished item in a solution of vinegar and water will undo the change, but I haven’t had a chance to try it. To be fair, the packaging comes with a warning that it is not dishwasher safe.

Stronger, Bigger, Faster
Iâve been using the Kitchenaid plastic FGA food grinder attachment for 5-10 years to grind venison burger. The plastic housing cracked, so I replaced it with the metal food grinder expecting it to be stronger and last longer. I was surprised how much larger the metal version is, itâs not just a metal version of the plastic model. I ground venison from 2 deer and a pork belly to blend with it. This metal food grinder was significantly faster at grinding meat than the smaller plastic model. In addition it did a better job of grinding sinew without clogging the blade. The metal version costs more, but has more grinding plates and attachments, is less likely to crack and works so much faster that it is definitely worth purchasing over the plastic version.

Effortless
Makes quick work out of grinding up a pork loin to make our own sausage. Works best when the meat is cold. Also used to grind up left over turkey to use for sandwiches. Very easy to clean. I have many plans for this attachment!

It just works. Setup and clean up is nice and easy. Putting everything together is simple and running the grinder couldn’t be any easier. I like the work height, and how smooth everything works. I couldnât be happier. It has made me feel like a pro when I’m working with such a nice piece of equipment.
