Great Cooker/Grill But Be Aware of Maintenance
This unit combines a grill with a convection oven.Be realistic. There is no substitute for charcoal but I am precluded by local law and my condo association from barbecuing on my terrace. The Foodi offers a good sear and SOME of the flavor you would get from a charcoal grill. I have had excellent results with this thing. If you do not have a dishwasher, you might want to think twice. There are a lot of parts to be cleaned.I have a Cuisinart contact grill that became all but useless. The teflon coating has worn off top and bottom plates and everything sticks like crazy – usually to the top plate. Replacing the plates is about the same cost as replacing the machine. Even if there were not a sticking problem there is no comparison between the two appliances. The Foodi is far superior. The Foodi has an enamel coating that is very slick and should be far more durable than teflon. You ABSOLUTELY need a meat thermometer – the external kind with a cable or bluetooth connector to the probe. You will never have satisfactory result with a timer. Overall this cooks much quicker than an oven or a conventional grill because of the convection effect. Cooking times will vary depending upon fat content and size. The mean thermometer (around 2 bucks) takes the guesswork out of the process.I made some fennel sausage last weekend. I grilled these without the thermometer. I managed to overcook the links. I use commercial grade hog casing (my poor mother kept kosher) and the casing split. On the other hand I grilled some double rib lamb chops with the thermometer and they were done to perfection – a few degrees lower than desired and then allowed to rest for five minutes. Seared on the outside, medium rare on the inside. On the grill you are limited to four temperature zones. If you roast you can set the temperature to any point like an ordinary oven.I have not tried it but apparently you can air fry a breaded chicken cutlet. We will see. It would be a real plus.I have a sensitive, hard-wired smoke alarm and it went off when I turned the chops. Frankly it wasn’t necessary to turn. As advertised is sears all around. I will turn them the next time as well but open my terrace doors first. You MIGHT want to obtain kevlar oven gloves. The reason I said that is that they enable you to remove the components while they are still hot and wipe the down with a paper towel before the D/W. No need to use the brush. Everything just slides off. There are three parts to clean: The grill, the pot and the splatter shield. My definition of clean is however, er, … stuff comes out of the dishwasher. There was something in the manual about soaking the splatter shield for 24 hours. Yeah, sure. I’ll get right on that.Overall – unless you are expecting robust charcoal barbecue taste – most people will be satisfied. As an indoor grill I would give it six stars if I could.

I Use This Foodi Every Single Day!!!
I was on the fence about getting this for several months–I just wasn’t sure if I wanted yet one more thing on my counter. But, I happened to get it at some flash sale price, so I bit the bullet and bought it. It actually took me a couple of days to start using it (I get intimidated with new kitchen things sometimes), but once I started, WOW! I watched tons of YT videos of people cooking with this, so I had a decent idea of what worked and of course after using it since May, I have just figured out what works best. To be honest, I use air crisp for almost everything except for steaks. I air crisp burgers (much faster that way), pork rind breaded pork chops, fish balls, pork rind breaded fish, chicken wings and bacon. We don’t eat cakes or cookies, so I can’t say that I’ve used the bake function. The grill plate takes much much longer to heat up, but we really like our steaks on the grill plate and grill function as opposed to air crisp. The Ninja is fairly easy to clean, at least the bottom bin and the air fryer basket are. The grill is fairly easy too if you soak it. The screen at the top can be a pain and trying to clean around the top can be tricky and I have cut my knuckles doing that. I do wish they had put the ceramic coating on the lid or at least used metal that wasn’t so sharp. That is my main complaint. If they had only put the ceramic coating on the lid, cleaning would be really easy. With the screen, about once a month, I put it in boiling water with vinegar and a few drops of dawn to try and clean it. That works fairly well. I do have issues with my smoke detectors going off though, but my sister in law has one of these and just puts it on her counter near her stove and turns on her exhaust fan and that keeps her detectors from going off. I don’t have a functioning exhaust fan, otherwise I would do the same thing. So I put my kitchen detector in a drawer while I’m using the Ninja and that works. Seriously though, it has made cooking much more fun and since you can actually cook frozen food, like frozen burgers (we get awesome specialty burgers from our farmers market), but it has just made eating so much easier for my husband and I. In one minute, we can pull some burgers out of the freezer, heat up the Ninja and cook them and they’re done in about 15-16 minutes (our burgers are very large)! Pretty much anything we make takes less than 17 minutes to cook (except for the chicken wings). Yes, we eat mostly carnivore, so as long as we have some kind of meat in the fridge or freezer, it’s really easy for us and we literally have used this just about every single day since we got it!

I have used it for homemade burgers, chicken souvlaki, Chicken breasts, chicken cordon bleu, pork chops and Mennonite sausages. Does an awesome job on them. Come winter I will use more often for other things. My only concern is that the splatter guard may need to be replaced as after cleaning it each time it sometimes falls out, but works ok the next time I use it.Make sure to use the brush when cleaning the pans. Some use Dawn power wash to clean the splatter guard. Make sure you clean the pans after each time and the splatter guard.I use parchment paper in it after it has preheated and says to add food, as it makes cleanup easy and stops any smoking that might occur. It must be added after preheating or it will fly up and start on fire. This air fryer does so much more than my old one did.If you haven’t owned one make sure you join an air fryer group on Facebook and you will learn all the foods you can prepare in it.

Absolute rip off. Would never buy another Ninja product. Disgraceful. DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM. Tried all the convertors but blew electrics. Now have to pay the postage to return this awful product. Just disgusted with the product. Queried it with the sellers when I received it but just does not work properly in the UK even with convertors and just blew all the electrics. The convertor recommended does not work and is not the right one despite ensuring I ordered the right one. Wasted two weeks now for nothing. Never buying a Ninja product again because of this. Utter disgrace.

This is excellent. We now use it to grill as we are in a rental building for a year
