Important book on Social Security
One of the main strengths of this book is its ability to break down complicated Social Security concepts into clear, digestible steps. Personally, I appreciate these simple explanations as someone who can feel overwhelmed by the technicalities of government benefits. I also found the comprehensive coverage of Social Security to be incredibly valuable. The book covers multiple aspects of Social Security, such as spousal benefits, survivor benefits, tax considerations, and specific rules for different circumstances like disability or self-employment. This breadth has made it a versatile resource for my various needs. But what really stood out to me was the actionable guidance provided in this book. It gives specific steps and timelines for deciding when to file for benefits, which resonated well with me as someone seeking clear-cut advice. In fact, I would say that the actionable nature of the content is one of its biggest draws for me. The only thing it needed was a guide for people who retire abroad on how they should get their benefits.

Clear and informative and also interestingly written with relatable stories.
I enjoyed this presentation on a big subject that needs planning to make the best decision possible. It is very helpful to have expert advice on determining when an individual should file for social security benefits. I liked this book because of all the relatable stories and examples the author gave to help illustrate the points he was making. There are cute cartoon-like illustrations with fun messages to help keep my interest. I think it’s a very important book for everyone to read before retirement and it gave me a lot to think about and took the mystery out of this somewhat overwhelming process of retirement!

Very thorough and a good read
This book is very thorough in explaining social security and has quizzes too. The only thing is it feels so “fact-based” that I don’t think it has a lot of applicable and approachable quality.

FINALLY, simple Social Security help…
This book really hit the mark for me. As someone who’s 57 and starting to seriously think about retirement, Iâve been looking for something that makes Social Security less of a mystery. This book does just that. Itâs written in plain English, not like some of the financial guides that make you feel like you need a PhD to understand them.
